Full-Time/Part-Time: Part Time
*Serves as an Academic Coach and assists TRIO students in learning material necessary to succeed in their academic courses. Coaches will work with students on an individual basis or in a small group of three to four students.Develops and facilitates training of TRIO Student Workers (Peer Tutors, Peer Mentors and Peer Leaders) regarding Academic Coaching.Assists with the development and coordination of TRIO Summer Academies.May include supervisory duties such as assigning and reviewing the work of TRIO Student Workers (Peer Leaders, Peer Mentors and Peer Tutors).Develops and facilitates workshops on academic success topics.Completes contact forms, including student attendance at sessions, accurately and on time.Maintains confidentiality of students' personal and academic issues.Attends required training activities and scheduled events.Performs office tasks such as filing, making copies, and scheduling appointments, as necessary.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:Currently enrolled college or university student with an associate degree or over 60 completed college credit hours.
Over three (3) months of relevant experience, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of computers, student information system (Banner), Microsoft Office, scheduling in Outlook, copier, printer, multi-line phone, and email.Prior experience as a tutor, mentor or academic coach at the college level.Customer service, problem solving and critical thinking skills.Ability to communicate effectively with others, accurately identify a situation and respond appropriately, handle a high volume of phone, electronic and face-to-face communication, follow multi-step directions, adapt to new technology and changing environment, present in front of a variety of audiences, use PowerPoint and related presentation equipment.Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those encountered by students served by the project
