Posting Summary: The Department of Medicine's Division of General Geriatric, Palliative and Hospital Medicine at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, seeks multiple Hospitalist to join a growing practice of more than 20 physicians with expanding roles in the UVa Health System. Teaching opportunities in our residency program and medical school are abundant. Rank and compensation are contingent upon qualifications and experience.
Our practice is leading an initiative on geographic team based hospital care designed to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance patient and caregiver satisfaction. We also have growing surgical co-management service including a preoperative clinic and we staff a 40 bed LTACH. We have exceptional support from health system leadership and a team that is energetic and poised to lead UVa in its quest to become the safest health system in America.
Candidates must have an MD or DO and be board-certified/board eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine by appointment start date. These tenure-ineligible faculty positions are designed for physicians focused on quality care including active participation in clinical research and outstanding teaching. Successful candidates may possess prior experience in hospital medicine, or be beginning a career in academic hospital medicine. Applicants with expertise in care transitions, teamwork in the hospital, value-based hospital care or teaching are strongly encouraged to apply. Tenure-ineligible positions may qualify to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future consistent with the School of Medicine promotion and tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
