Performs tasks related to acquiring, accessing and maintaining the Library's electronic resources. Assists with the compilation of usage statistics for electronic resources
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains currency and accuracy of ejournal holdings in the central eresource management knowledgebase (e.g. Serials Solutions), in the integrated library system (ILS), and the off-campus access service
Maintains the reliability of links to electronic resources, including proactively testing URLs and troubleshooting broken links
Investigates and resolves issues affecting eresource access (e.g. subscription lapses, billing problems, URL changes); refers complex problems to Resource Acquisition and Management (RAM) Librarian
Provides support to keep Libraryâ??s electronic resource management (ERM) system up-to-date and accurate
Retrieves eresource usage data from publisher and vendors web sites
Uses spreadsheet software to prepare usage data for analysis by the RAM Librarian
Monitors, activates, and sets up access to new ejournals; de-selects and withdraws inaccessible ejournals
Tracks, monitors, and follows-up on ejournal platform changes and on changes in the composition of ejournal packages
Reviews consortia, vendor and publisher title lists for accuracy for the renewal of eresource subscriptions
Communicates with vendors and publishers on matters related to the acquisition of and access to eresources
Generates and reviews reports from the ILS in support of job functions
Creates, edits, and updates bibliographic, order, and holdings/check-in records in the ILS for eresources
Trains, coordinates work and directs student assistants
Trains and provides assistance to co-workers
Performs related duties as required
Supervisor: Resource Acquisition and Management Librarian
Work is performed independently with little or no direction; independent judgments and decisions are made within scope of library policies and procedures
Bachelorâ??s degree or equivalent experience
Relevant work experience with electronic resources
Computer skills, ability to use standard computer software packages particularly spreadsheets
Previous experience in an academic library preferred
Capacity to learn new technologies and systems necessary to effective, continued job performance
Analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to perform detailed work accurately with reasonable speed
Good organizational skills
Ability to interact favorably with co-workers and library users
Oral and written communication skills
Eyesight which permits close work
Knowledge of a foreign language desirable
Successful completion of a test may be required
