Conduct Experiments (55%)
This employee will perform tissue culture, mouse, and molecular biology experiments. This work will involve independent preparation of recombinant DNA vectors for gene transfer, tissue culture, and analyses of cells at the DNA, RNA and protein levels using PCR technologies, immunoflourescent microscopy, western blotting and other techniques. The applicant will also perform mouse work, injecting cells or DNA vectors, necropsies, and in vivo imaging using various modalities such as bioluminescent imaging. Employee shall, in collaboration with graduate student, plan experiments, conduct literature reviews and searches, collection of data, analysis and review of data, data interpretation, figure generation, and some data presentations.
Administrative Duties (40%)
Employee shall assist PI and graduate student by submitting and drafting forms, protocol revisions, providing information for renewal applications, Writing and revising SOP (standard operating procedures) and participating in laboratory inspection services for IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee), IBC (Institutional Biosafety Committee) and the IRB (Institutional Review Board). The employee will perform detailed record keeping of experimental results. This will include lab notebooks, Excel data storage, figure generation, storage of image and sequencing files, etc. Employee may write figure legends, methods, and results. Employee may generate figures in Power point, Illustrator or other programs. The employee will do Required Lab Specific annual training for the following: Radiation, Lab Safety, Animal Training, Bloodborne Pathogen, BSL2, Chemical, Hazardous Waste.
