| Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 14,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia, and it has a branch campus and medical school in Camden and a second medical school in nearby Stratford. Rowan is only the second university in the country to offer M.D. and D.O. medical-degree granting programs. The School of Osteopathic Medicine has a faculty practice plan that serves approximately 200,000 patients throughout Southern New Jersey. The institution is also home to the South Jersey Technology Park, which fosters the translation of applied research into commercial products and processes. SUMMARY: Under direction, provides a wide variety of administrative services to the administrative area of the NJISA. Coordinates office operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Functions as the initial contact for the Chair of NJISA in a professional manner.
Responsible for providing administrative, analytical, computing video teleconferencing and staff support for the department. Demonstrates ability to independently create and manage information through software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
Maintains NJISA website by updating information on a regular basis.
Answers telephones, takes messages, provide routine information and routes calls appropriately.
Receives and appropriately handles incoming correspondence including screening and processing Department mail.
Undertakes routine writing and editing assignments; independently composes and types correspondence for Chair and Administrator?s signature.
Maintains mailing and contact/distribution lists for the Department. Responsible for distributing department wide information on behalf of Chair and Administrator.
Makes appointments and schedules meetings for Chair and Administrator, and responds to inquiries. Maintains the Chair calendar and schedule to maximize efficiency of his/her time.
Makes travel arrangements for Chair including registration reservation for events.
Maintains Department essential records including activity, administrative and personnel files in an orderly fashion. Must have the ability to maintain confidential information.
Attends monthly faculty and staff meetings for purposes of taking minutes. Types and distributes minutes to necessary parties.
Interacts with staff, faculty, residents, and students, in addition to contact with senior management of the School and the University.
Understands and adheres to Rowan?s compliance and standards as they appear in Rowan?s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate?s Degree plus two (2) years of administrative/secretarial experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Must be proficient in writing skills in order to independently compose correspondence. Experience supporting a high level executive position preferred. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
