Full Professor (Ladder Rank, In Residence)- Cardiovascular Medicine
Tenured faculty, Cardiovascular Medicine - The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) at University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is actively recruiting for a tenured faculty position at the full professor level. We seek a physician scientist with continuing active engagement in clinical cardiology along with an active and innovative research program. Scientific expertise in the study of the basic biology of heart failure using a combination of molecular, cellular and physiological approaches with whole animal and cells will fit with the current program of excellence in molecular cardiovascular biology. Candidates must have an M.D. or M.D./ PhD., have board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine. Clinical expertise in echocardiography would be a plus. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of prolific peer-reviewed publications, and be a known leader in their field. The successful candidate is expected to have a productive and independent research program with multiple national grant sources concurrent. As a senior level faculty the successful candidate is also expected to be involved in curriculum development, teach medical students, medical residents, cardiology fellows, research trainees and postgraduate research investigators. Applicants functioning across multiple disciplines such as medicine, physiology, and engineering, and that have translational approaches are encouraged to apply.
The Department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. Salary/rank is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank and 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding.
