Advertised Summary Job Description: The incumbent provides administrative support to Drs. Henderson and Przedborski and their labs, as well as the Center for Motor Neuron Biology and Disease, for which Drs. Henderson and Przedborski serve as Co-directors. Duties will include but not be limited to: preparing correspondence, proofreading documents, booking travel, managing schedules, filing, answering telephones, placing lab orders, maintaining and reconciling a purchasing card, processing faculty expense reports/check requests/purchase orders, paying invoices, and maintaining service contracts. The Administrative Coordinator assists with Human Resources-related tasks, compiling hiring and visa paperwork as needed. In addition, he/she provides general support to the MNC and affiliate programs. He/she organizes all aspects of special events/seminars/meetings for the MNC - securing event venues, selecting catering, overseeing facilities and security aspects, and other miscellaneous arrangements. Meetings/events may occur outside of normal business hours, but infrequently so. He/she manages the Center's publicity, prepares and disseminates announcements, and maintains public relations list. Other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus two years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: - Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication (excellent written English) skills necessary - Knowledge of Excel and Word required - Must be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other staff - Must show impeccable attention to detail and be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks - Must be able to learn all electronic financial systems
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with a university/academic environment strongly preferred Familiarity with scientific terminology a plus.
