Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 14,000 students. The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (APN) to work with a Bariatric physician to provide non-surgical medical weight loss solutions to patients in a supportive and positive work environment. Primary care duties and responsibilities are also a requirement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
q Knowledge of Health & Wellness Issues (Diabetes, Hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome, Weight Loss, Nutrition, Fitness, Etc.)
q Ability to identify healthy metrics for blood pressure, weight, cholesterol and glucose
q Commitment to Quality Customer Service
q Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
q Comfortable working with a physician
q Ability to communicate with the Program Director regarding scheduling, planning and projects
q Initially record New Patient data/update Established Patient data into our EMR
q Cultivate a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals that have questions regarding their health and to provide educated answers.
q Dedicated to meet or exceed established performance goals
q Maintain a clean & organized work-space
q Work with mobile technology (Apps, Tablets, Programs, Bluetooth, etc.)
q Keep appointments schedule running smoothly & efficiently ? in concert with the physician
q Encouraging and educating patients through their weight loss process and long term weight control success
q Monitoring patients during their progress within individualized programs to achieve results
q Motivating patients, and celebrating successes.
q Maintain communication with patients via patient portal and EMR messaging
q Perform Body Composition Analysis with patients using state-of-the-art equipment at every visit
q Be able to work evening and Saturdays. Usually one evening a week and one Saturday a month

q Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatments or related therapeutic procedures.
q May participate in departmental research activities.
q Keeps abreast of departmental policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Certified as either Clinical Nurse Specialist or a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New Jersey. At least two (2) years of related nursing experience preferably as an ambulatory advanced practice nurse required.
