In accordance with federal coding compliance regulations and guidelines, use current ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS code sets/systems to accurately abstract, code and electronically record into the 3M Coding & Reimburse System (3M – CRS), all diagnoses, surgical procedures, and other significant invasive and non-invasive procedures documented by any physician in outpatient medical records (i.e OP Ancillary/Clinic Visits, and an assorted outpatient surgeries: GI Lab, Heart Cath Lab, Pain Management surgery, and Invasive Radiology, etc.) Address OCE/NCCI edits within 3M- CRS and those returned from the Business Office. Performs other coding department related duties as assign HIM Management Staff.
-High school diploma and successful completion of college courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology and a certified coding class.
-One to three years experience in ICD-9-CM & ICD- 10 (combined) and CPT/HCPCS coding of ambulatory surgery medical records in an hospital or outpatient surgical center, and experience in using a computerized coding & abstracting software and en encoding/code-finder database systems is required.
-AHIMA Certfied Coding Associate (CCA); or AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P); or AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); or AAPC Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-h); or AAPC Certfied Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC). Successful completion (95%) of the Tenet and Hospital specific Coding Tests.
-A Fire and Safety card must be presented upon hire or must be obtained at our facility within the first 30 days of hire and maintained by renewing before expiration date.
