UC San Diego Health Hillcrest Hospital has several Med/Surg units with diverse patient populations such as Ortho/Neuro/Trauma, Infectious Disease, Transplant, Heart Failure/Cardiomyopathy, Oncology, Stroke, and more.
UC San Diego Thornton Hospital in La Jolla has a general Med/Surg/Ortho unit and BMT/Oncology unit.
Under general supervision, the per diem RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluated results for unit specializing in medical surgical patients. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support of policies. Achieves trust in professional collegial relationships.
A current California RN license and BLS (CPR/BART) certification.
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Must have at least one (1) year recent acute care Med/Surg RN experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to work within a busy team environment.
Some units prefer Chemotherapy certification.
Recent RN experience with oncology, transplant, infectious disease, ortho, neuro, and/or stroke patients.
Must be willing to float to different Med/Surg units.
Must be able to work variable shifts to include nights, days, weekends, holidays and/or on-call.
