SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (LECTURER) POSITION IN COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS
The Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University is searching for a clinical faculty member in speech-language pathology. The successful applicant will hold a position of Lecturer (non-tenure line) and will be responsible for provision of clinical care, supervision of graduate students, and support of research and educational missions of the Department’s Voice, Speech, Language Service and Swallowing Center on the Chicago campus and the Center for Audiology, Speech, Language, and Learning in Evanston.
The position will be primarily housed (75% of time) at the downtown Chicago campus in the Voice, Speech, Language Service and Swallowing Center located on Northwestern’s Medical campus. The successful applicant will provide specialized care to both inpatients and outpatients at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and may also staff professional clinics in the departments of Otolaryngology and Neurology at Northwestern Medicine.
The candidate will also spend time (25% of time) at the Center for Audiology Speech, Language, and Learning in Evanston, a brand new, state-of-the art facility on the Northwestern University’s Evanston campus. The multidisciplinary center offers a variety of audiology, speech, language, and learning services for patients of all ages and serves as an exceptional educational setting for graduate students.
Employment term: An 11-month appointment beginning April 1, 2015. The appointment may be renewed on an annual basis.
1. Earned Master’s or Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology
2. Eligibility for Illinois SLP licensure
3. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
4. Substantial experience in:
o Dysphagia assessment and management
o Motor speech disorders
o Language Disorders
o Cognitive Disorders
- Provide exceptional, evidence-based diagnosis and treatment for patients in an acute-care hospital setting.
- Provide exceptional, evidence-based diagnosis and treatment for adult clients in an outpatient clinic
- Perform and interpret diagnostic videofluoroscopic swallow studies and FEES
- Develop the clinical skills of graduate students via direct supervision and instruction within a team-based educational model.
- Salary: Commensurate with experience.
