FINANCIAL ASSISTANT II, Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS), to assist with proposal development and submission of grant and contract proposals for sponsored projects. Will conduct financial review for research/general accounts and monitor expenditures for compliance with sponsor requirements; maintain account information; prepare monthly reports for principal investigators (PIs); prepare journal vouchers and internal billing; assist research staff, students, administrative assistants, and faculty with fiscal problems; interact with PIs, research staff, and other MIT departments on fiscal matters; handle salary reconciliation for research projects; monitor and reconcile MIT and LNS outstanding commitments; process research account closeouts; and assist financial officers with special projects as needed.
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of three years' experience in accounting/finance; excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel; and proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
