Essential Functions: Under the guidance of the Laboratory Director, performs molecular genetics research in the field of human population and functional genomics, using modern biological research tools. Junior and senior applicants will be considered. The successful candidate will work on functional and population genomics projects in the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. The candidate will be expected to work independently on assigned projects as well as to carry out research activities under the supervision of senior personnel in the lab. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and very conscientious individual. An estimated percentage of the breakdown of activities is as follows: 80% Research: Carries out research using the following techniques: Next-Generation Sequencing, PCR, Quantitative RT-PCR, DNA/RNA purification, cloning, reporter gene assays, chromatin immunoprecipitation, ATAC-seq, mammalian cell and tissue culture (cell lines and primary cells/tissues), isolation of primary cells from human tissue. 10% Data management: assists with the management and analysis of genetic data. 10% Attends lab meetings and reads current journal articles pertaining to relevant projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
