Essential Functions: Computer Programmer. Consults with appropriate staff to develop requirements for applications, implements developed applications and provides support. Performs scientific analyses using genetic data, manipulating the data as necessary. Develops software tools to facilitate these analyses. Reports the results from these analyses to appropriate investigators. Develops and maintains databases of genomic data. The successful candidate will work on functional and population genomics projects in the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. The candidate will be expected to take the lead in leveraging information technology software and tools in support of the experimental and computational personnel of the lab. The candidate will be expected to establish and keep up to date databases of high-throughput genomic data generated in the lab or publicly available. The candidate will also be expected to provide support to other personnel in data analysis. This will include designing software tools, providing expert advice on existing software tools, and providing support in scripting efforts by other personnel in the lab. An estimated percentage of the breakdown of activities is as follows: Performs analyses on data collected in the lab or publicly available 25% Creates and maintains databases of data collected in the lab or publicly available 20% Writes scripts and codes for data analysis 20% Provides advice on scripting and coding to other lab members 15% Maintains accurate records of all activities carried out in conjunction with different projects 10% Attends lab meetings and reads current journal articles pertaining to relevant projects 10%
