Summary Description: FOUR POSITIONS AVAILABLEPostdoctoral Research Scholars in Precision MedicineInstitute for Genomic MedicineColumbia University Biogen IdecThe Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) at Columbia University (CU), in partnership with Biogen Idec, is seeking to hire four motivated and creative Postdoctoral Research Scholars and/or Clinical Fellows interested in applying the study of genetics to the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Under the direction of Dr. David Goldstein, the IGM seeks to comprehensively integrate genetics and genomics into research, training and patient care and to develop programs that prepare students for careers as researchers and clinicians in the expanding field of genomic medicine. The IGM and Biogen Idec partnership brings together CU's pioneering genomics research and Biogen's drug discovery expertise to use genome-wide sequencing in an effort to discover therapeutics for diseases with significantly unmet clinical needs. Primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing research studies, collecting and analyzing data, preparing research results for publication, presenting at national meetings, and assisting in the preparation of grant proposals. We are interested in candidates with interests in any areas of genomics and precision medicine, including, in particular, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, and the genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders and other therapeutic areas. Excellent communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English are essential.This represents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the rapidly expanding field of precision medicine and therapeutic discovery. In particular, these positions offer the opportunity of working within a leading genomic medicine institute in close partnership with a leading biotechnology company, allowing candidates to participate in the full spectrum of precision medicine from target discovery and validation through to drug development.
