The Department of Pediatrics and the Division of Host-Microbe Systems & Therapeutics seeks applications for ladder rank faculty positions (Associate or Full Professor, tenure-track) in the areas of infection, inflammation and immunity.

Significant opportunities for collaboration exist in the Health Sciences Center, and in outstanding research institutes such as the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Research Institute, the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology and the Scripps Research Institute.
Candidates must have an MD or PhD, or MD/PhD degree. Successful candidates must have a demonstrated record of prolific peer-reviewed publication, and the primary authorship of at least five peer-reviewed publications and senior contributor for several other peer-reviewed publications. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of multiple collaborative and interdisciplinary existing research studies, existing research in areas of human microbiome and its relationship to child health, with extramurally funded research programs, and the desire to contribute to medical and graduate education. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity by submitting a Diversity Statement of past contributions and/or future plans of excellence in this area as part of their application for an academic appointment.
Prospective candidates with proven aptitude and success in gnotobiotic mouse models of infectious, inflammatory or metabolic diseases are of special interest, but this does not represent a requirement for consideration. Candidates must demonstrate willingness to participate in university service and to help develop core university research services.
Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank and 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding. Position is tenured and with partial state funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
