Advertised Summary Job Description: Nurse Practitioner is needed in a comprehensive Melanoma/Pancreatic cancer program and practice. The NP will be responsible for the assessment and management of Melanoma/Pancreatic patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, under a medical collaborative agreement. S/he will be responsible for developing, implementing, and tracking patient education efforts as it relates to Melanoma/Pancreatic cancers and related diseases, chemotherapy, as well as psychosocial concerns of family, patients and caretakers related to the underlying disease. Collaborate with Infusion Center nurses and staff in the care and treatment of patients receiving chemotherapy. S/he will complete patient's history and physical exams, review laboratory results and order appropriate tests, provide discharge instructions and patient education and monitor follow-up appointments. The Nurse Practitioner will obtain consents, monitor pre and post procedure status of patients; develop care plans for patients; document history, orders, notes and ongoing evaluation of patients; assure quality of care and standards are maintained; participate in daily rounds; and serve as liaison to referring physicians and external transfers. S/he will assist physicians with related duties as directed and perform other tasks as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Master's degree in Nursing, plus one to two years of relevant nursing experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Current NY State RN and NP license, Board Certification and BLS Certification. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Completion of GCP training and COI required upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Oncology experience preferred. Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred.
