Essential Functions: Post-doctoral and Research Associate positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Serrine S. Lau in the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Projects include investigations of molecular mechanisms of Type 2 diabetes mellitus complications, or prostate/renal cancer, which involves disease-associated markers discovery and link to therapeutic interventions. Position Summary:The positions require individuals who are self-motivated and independent. The ability to organize and prioritize experiments will be necessary. The nature of the projects will require immediate technical competency in areas directly relevant to the research projects. The accurate recording of all protocols and data will be expected. Communication of progress will be required on, at minimum, a weekly basis.Duties and Responsibilities:Independently manage biochemical and molecular biology projects, including the design and performance of experiments. Manage clinical trial as study coordinator. Analyze data and prepare weekly reports of progress. Submit experimental results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Manage and maintain laboratory operations, equipment, and reagent inventory. Perform literature searches using PubMed etc. Manage laboratory compliance requirements. Present abstracts (platform/posters) at regional/national/international scientific meetings. Mentor graduate/undergraduate students.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology/toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences or a related discipline. Evidence of research productivity.Ability to participate in team science, which integrates basic and clinical research.
