The Assistant Manager works with the Senior Manager, WNO Development to plan, develop, and implement the solicitation of corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, and government support—both restricted and unrestricted—for the WNO’s artistic and educational programming and annual Opera Ball. The Assistant Manager will oversee and generate work for a WNO Corporate & Foundation Relations Assistant and an intern.
The Assistant Manager will organize and execute solicitation campaigns, prospecting research and strategy, and fulfillment of donor benefits, working directly with donors and internal staff from the WNO.
The Assistant Manager must have a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage time and projects for maximum productivity, along with the ability to shift priorities in order to achieve all high value work. The incumbent must customarily and regularly exercise proactivity, discretion, and independent judgment in the pursuit of job objectives and goals, often under significant pressure. A proactive working style and an eagerness to communicate and problem-solve with a positive attitude is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
35% Identify, cultivate, and solicit current and prospective donors/sponsors, working with Senior Manager, Director, and WNO artistic staff; maintain direct contact with current and prospective donors/sponsors via telephone and personal visits.
25% Draft/edit proposals, final reports, solicitation letters and other written materials as needed. Includes the submission of budget and financial information.
20% Cultivate and steward sponsors via events/hospitality opportunities, donor recognition and ticketing, and other benefits as appropriate. Work directly with corporate contacts to fulfill benefits.
20% Oversee the Assistant(s) in processing gifts, drafting correspondence, researching donor prospects, and ensuring proper donor crediting on all materials related to events and season sponsorship.
