The Chief of Clinical Operations at the Providence VA Medical Center will manage face to face dermatology clinics and will oversee dermatology resident education, including being VA site director for the dermatology residency. The Dermatologist at the Providence VA Medical Center and the Department of Dermatology at The Rhode Island, Miriam, and Hasbro Hospitals will provide outstanding clinical care, education, and research in Dermatology. This position will be a shared position between the Providence VA Medical Center (6/8) and the Department of Dermatology at The Rhode Island, Miriam, and Hasbro Hospitals.
The successful candidate must qualify for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Minimum requirements include: medical licensure, board eligibility or certification in Dermatology; strong clinical background in Dermatology; excellence in patient care and teaching; and a commitment to scholarly participation in research. Candidates at the Associate Professor rank must have evidence of national reputation. Clinical Care: The incumbent will be expected to oversee and manage face to face Dermatology clinics at the Providence VA Medical Center and will participate in Dermatology clinics at the Department of Dermatology at The Rhode Island, Miriam, and Hasbro Hospitals. Additional duties will include providing inpatient Dermatology Consultation Services, coordinating Dermatopathology reviews and follow-ups, and other duties as appropriate. Management of clinical care will include adherence to VA requirements for clinic access and quality. 1. Education: The incumbent will fully participate in teaching of Brown University Dermatology and internal medicine residents and medical students. This will include regularly scheduled presentations at both dermatology and internal medicine educational conferences. 2. Research: The incumbent will fully support scholarly research in Dermatology and is encouraged to develop a program in either basic, clinical, or population sciences. 3. Administration: The incumbent will actively participate in professional activities of the Providence VA Medical Center, the Department of Dermatology, and the Medical School.
