Middle School Latin Teacher - 2018-2019 maternity substitute

Menlo School is seeking an enthusiastic, full-time Middle School Teacher for a one year maternity leave. The ideal candidate has a genuine love of Middle School students and is excited to work with all types of students to develop a passion for Latin and the classics, by providing an understanding of the mechanics, history, and structure of Latin. The teacher will be responsible for teaching three class sections, and overseeing a 10-12 student advocacy group, as well as a major extracurricular activity.
Teach three classes. The 6th and 7th grade classes are using the Oxford Latin Course. The 8th grade class is using the Cambridge Latin Course.
Use a wide variety of creative teaching methods and demonstrations that actively engage a variety of student learners and learners of differing abilities.
Have a broad knowledge of and experience with current best practices in curriculum and instruction.

Bachelor’s degree in Classics or Latin; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience

Ability to make contributions to the School outside one’s academic department (eg. coaching, leading extracurriculars, supervisions, etc.)
