Essential Functions/Typical Duties
Work rotating 8 hour shifts for 24 hour coverage, seven days per week, may include weekends and holidays;
Investigate complaints of disturbance, accidents, stolen property, or criminal activity;
Assist city or county police and state patrol in cases of emergency;
Direct and regulate traffic;
Administer first aid;
Operate department communication equipment;
Patrol campus buildings and grounds on foot or by vehicle to maintain security;
Ensure adherence to institution rules and regulations, local, state and federal statutes and ordinances;
Issue citations for violations of campus regulations;
Write reports covering activities encountered during assigned shift;
Contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the organization;
Perform related duties as required.
High school graduation or equivalent
Two years of full-time college in police science or allied field; OR 6 months of police Or higher education Or security experience
Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
Ability to contribute to an environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the attainment of organizational goals
Ability to relate to students, staff and faculty of various ages, backgrounds
Strong interest in providing ongoing customer service to clients
SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Hiring is contingent upon the results of the Washington State Patrol Background Check.
Possession of a valid driver's license
Ability to work sitting or standing for 8 or more hours per day.
Ability to lift and move 30 pounds
Work is performed indoors and outdoors and requires the ability to respond quickly to various locations throughout the campus by walking, running, and or climbing stairs.
