Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clinic Services Representative II for the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Performs a variety of patient registration, billing and collection duties in support of the clinical operations.
Greets and registers patients in a courteous and professional manner.
Utilizes computer to schedule patient appointments for a variety of providers in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with written policies and guidelines.
Utilizes computer to process full registration information for new patients, including accurately collecting and verifying insurance information.
Processes, researches and answers routine telephone and written inquiries for patients in a timely manner.
Provides physician information and referrals for care to patients utilizing referral service software.
Receives patient payments, posts payments to billing records and reconciles credit balances.
Performs other routine bookkeeping tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Answers routine inquiries with regards to status of patient billing, insurance payments, etc., in person, in writing or by telephone while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in the RBHS Corporate Compliance Policy Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Prior experience accessing and retrieving information from a computer database.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Basic computer skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a stressful environment while maintaining a professional demeanor and customer service orientation.
At least two years of relevant experience in a physician's office or other medical office setting.
Familiarity with billing and collections software.
Prior experience in billing and collections or other business oriented processes.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position requires standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing and the ability to lift or exert up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to travel to multiple sites.
