As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll be responsible for answering incoming calls and completing outbound calls to/from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximized productivity. Positions in this function perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders. Interprets physicians' prescriptions and creates order, accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from computer system. Dispenses any or all of the following: unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals and injectibles; may compound medications. Pharmacists must have a current license without restrictions and Pharmacy Technicians must have current state license or national certification without restrictions based on regulatory requirements of worksite. The Pharmacy Technician performs designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, labeling and dispensing of medications, including sterile admixtures and prepackaged or unit dose drugs. In addition, performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparation of orders for drugs. Primary Responsibilities: Completes patient orders by selecting medications as indicated on the patient medication profile; assists in preparing and labeling of intravenous medication orders including total parenteral nutrition products using proper sterile and aseptic technique. Places medications in designated area for pharmacist to check, sends/delivers medications as required. Is knowledgeable with regard to the proper use and handling of hazardous medications. Compounds and handles hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulations (i.e. USP 797 and 800) Answers phones in a courteous and timely manner. Attends to customers in a timely manner. Assists in preparation of stat items investigating and preparing missing medications and serves as a bridges between the customer and the pharmacist Reorders as necessary to maintain a continuous inventory of medications and supplies. Receives, checks in and restocks medications ordered through wholesaler and other vendors Backup to the compounding tech. Uses aseptic technique when compounding sterile drug products. Completes accurate documentation of items compounded and repackaged. Performs quality control activities related to sterile compounding and the clean room per company policy as a backup to the compounding tech Is familiar with, and strives to meet, various guidelines and recommendations as put forth by various governing bodies. For example, completes documentation of refrigerator temperatures, IV hood cleaning, equipment maintenance and other activities as required. Works to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, State, Federal, OSHA and other regulatory standards. Follows all agency department policy and procedures. Ensures each admission meets admission criteria Completes other projects and duties as assigned by Pharmacy management.
Requirements: High School Diploma or GED1+ years of Pharmacy Tech ExperienceAbility to work Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. with on-call weekends once every 3 weeks.
