These roles report to an Innovation Lab Director and provide thought leadership and analytics expertise towards the iLab's core mission of transformational innovation targeting our most critical business challenges and product opportunities. This role supports product, operations, and growth with the tools and solutions to meet market demand. You will be at the intersection of business, technology and data analytics. You will be deeply experienced in at least two, passionate about all three, and conversant with stakeholders in all. Primary Responsibilities:Be a thought-leader and advocate of data science methods and applications Identification of potential medical cost savings in the form of fraud, waste, abuse or error Research, develop and apply new innovative analytics methods and technologies from other domains to healthcare data The ability for critical thinking outside your immediate sphere of responsibility Work with autonomy to find solutions to complex problems Leverage technical / analytical expertise across the enterprise to architect, deploy and oversee analytics and technology solutions Prototype new products and solutions that transform the industry Ability to articulate and paint a vision, with strong communication and presentation skills. As well as strengths in translating highly complex concepts, results, models and technologies in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences Be up to date with the state-of-the-art around big data analytics and associated technologies and techniques Have experience with Commercial environments and/or Products (not just internal focused) Be a leader for a variety of projects including proofs of concept, new product / component development, and reengineering initiatives among others
Required Qualifications:Experience in analytics / data science in a business or academic context Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. computer science, science, engineering, math / stats, physics etc.) Experience with Python, R, Scala, Java and/or other analytics languages Demonstrated experience accessing data from various data environments – particularly with SQL and related tools (including NoSQL environments), data management and efficient storage methods Recognised knowledge of statistics, machine-learning and numerical / computational methods Proven ability to breakdown and clearly define problems Demonstrated ability to deliver and own projects that yield real business value Preferred Qualifications:Masters or Ph.D. in scientific or quantitative fields Experience of large-scale distributed computing environments (Hadoop, Kafka, Storm, NiFi and/or related tools) Experience with deep learning, graph analytics, natural language processing, and unsupervised learning methods Experience applying computational algorithms and statistical methods to structured and unstructured data Experience of the US Healthcare sector Careers with Optum.
