The Office of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) at Northeastern University School of Law (NUSL) oversees all operational aspects of a full-time, year-round, academic legal program and serves as the hub of student life and support for the School of Law. The Academic Coordinator oversees office operations for the Office of Academic Affairs and student life initiatives for the School of Law. Under the direction of the Associate Director for Academic and Student Affairs, the Coordinator is responsible for managing student activities at the law school, is the initial point of contact for law students with activities-related questions, and is responsible for the day-to-day workflow of the office. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Opportunities for Student Distinction program, advising students and publicizing and tracking student honors. The Coordinator assists with office-wide duties related to student support and plays a major role in the coordination of Law School Orientation and other special projects, as needed. The Coordinator liaises with faculty to certify certain graduation requirements have been met by students and manages the tracking of all graduation requirements using several systems, including Salesforce. This position will also provide course registration and exam management support to students.
Bachelors degree required; completion of or interest in pursuing a graduate degree in higher education or related field preferred. 2- 5 years prior experience, including co-op or internship experiences, in student affairs and/or other higher education administration position is strongly preferred. Interest or experience with diversity and inclusion issues a plus. The job requires an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and a high level of comfort using online data management systems unique to the office. Familiarity with social media and Wordpress is important. The Coordinator must be mature, conscientious, congenial and able to work in a diverse environment; excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are necessary. Strong organizational and communications skills (oral and written) are required, as are dependability and attention to detail. The Coordinator must be efficient, self-directed, and able to make independent judgments. The job requires daily contact in person and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and external offices throughout the University and beyond. The Coordinator must meet all inquiries with prompt attention, accurate information, patience, and a willingness to go the extra mile to help problem solve. The Coordinator plays a key role in anticipating and meeting students needs to enhance the student experience. A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize multiple tasks, and work in a very busy office environment with competing demands is required.
