In this exciting role as a Senior Oracle DBA – Big Data, you will work with your team to make sure databases are up and running, you'll troubleshoot critical data warehouse build processes and you'll be responsible for safeguarding the business's most valuable asset – the data. Our databases process huge amounts of data on monthly basis. You will support dev, build and production environments, work on tuning and performance issues and control database access. Typical tasks required are:Automating repetitive administration and replication tasks using PL/SQL and shell scriptsAssisting end users with basic SQL question and more knowledgeable users with SQL tuning or refinementTesting backup and recovery and Disaster Recovery scenariosAdministration of databases with both Enterprise Manager Grid Control and command line operationsAnalysis and determination of database performance characteristics, for problem detection, and trend forecasting.Monitoring storage capacity and utilizationOptimize ETL SQL and shifting large quantities of data between databases and between Oracle and Hadoop.Installation of Oracle Grid and database, as well upgrading and security patching.
Required Qualifications:8-10 years use & knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, SQL AND PLSQL8-10 years of Unix/Linux knowledge including Shell scriptingVery large database experience Required to be on-call 24x7 for approximately 1 week per monthOccasionally required to support upgrades and other maintenance tasks after hours and on weekends.Experience with Oracle Performance Monitoring & TuningWork experience in Oracle 12c ASM & RAC ExperiencePL/SQL programmingAssets:Data Warehouse experienceShell scriptingHadoop Administration and/or DevelopmentExperience with multi-terabyte databasesHealthcare experienceCompetencies:Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skillsStrong communications skills and collaborative work styleWillingness to learn new Oracle and Hadoop technologiesCareers with Optum.
