The University of Cincinnati's Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences is currently accepting applications for a Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor with responsibilities in the Nutritional Sciences Program. This is a part-time (.8 FTE / approximately 32 hours/week) benefits-eligible, 12-months per year, 3 year term position. This position is ideal for a dietetics expert who wishes to become more involved in higher education. The ideal candidate will be able to independently teach undergraduate coursework focusing on the nutritional needs of individuals across the lifespan as well as special populations including high level athletes and persons with disabilities.
Position responsibilities are split between academic teaching within the Nutritional Sciences Program and clinical and educational activities in the role of sports dietitian within the Department of Athletics. As a result, the successful candidate will be required to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the individual student-athletes performance and medical goals. Duties include evaluating, interpreting, monitoring, and documenting the nutritional status and nutritional needs of the student-athletes using established standards of care and practice guidelines. Assisting in the training of sport nutrition interns is also expected.
Job Description: On a part-time, limited term basis, Visiting Faculty Members' principal academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge. This position also involves the provision of nutrition services to the Department of Athletics.
Masters degree (MS) in Nutrition Sciences (or significant progression towards completion – anticipated position start date July 1, 2018)
Work experience in collegiate athletics and sport specific nutrition education
College level teaching experience
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credentialed (or verified for eligibility with plans to take the RDN exam prior to the anticipated position start date July 1, 2018).
Evidence of excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience with e-learning or distance learning
Demonstrated student mentorship experience
Experience in research
Familiarity with NCAA rules, regulations, and nutrition related bylaws
