OVERVIEW: The Lawrence Hall of Science is looking for a part time Rental Monitor to oversee Event rentals to outside clients. The Rental Monitor will be the Building Supervisor and event contact during rental events like weddings, parties, and corporate events. They will oversee the building and liaise with the client to ensure smooth delivery of events and adherence to Rental policies. Most rental events are on weekend evenings and often go as late as 1:00am. The work is sporadic with a busy season and a less busy time of year. The successful candidate will be able to work events as needed with a schedule being provided several weeks to a months in advance. Excellent customer service is a must!
Duties Include: •Arrive at least 1 hour before set up of event •Manage and guide all deliveries •Post signage •Clean facility as necessary before the event (trash removal, exhibit space presentation, sweeping, etc.) •Assist Hall Exhibit / Building staff with movement of exhibits or furniture •Ensure set up is done according to rental request, floor plans and events checklist •Introduce oneself to renter (or event contact) and caterer and let them know routine and how to be contacted •Responsible for ensuring observation of contract agreement at regular intervals •Instruct caterers to location of Hall equipment for set up and breakdown/storage •Assist renters and caterers with museum procedures regarding clean up and disposal of trash •Provide 1 hour of warning for end of event •Turn on or off exhibits and lights as requested during the event •Turn off all exhibits and lights at the end of the event •Responsible for properly closing facility and locking doors •Remain flexible with end time of event 1-2 hours •Chaperone Visitor Services Desk student(s) to vehicle at end of the event or provide transportation home if needed •Write short evaluation of event, noting condition of facility, problems, time of departure and any relevant comments •Provide site visits to actual and potential rental clients and caterers •Be available for rehearsals if needed•Demonstrated customer service experience •Must be organized, reliable and calm under stressful situations •Excellent oral and written communication skills •Must be able to work evenings and weekends •
