Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ortho Device Coordinator.
In this role, the successful candidate The position provides training, logistics and OR coverage on all Altus Spine surgery systems. The candidate will become a recognized as the first point of contact on the functionality and clinical use of all Altus Spine surgery systems. They will train OR and Sterile Processing Department staff on proper use, cleaning, configuration and maintenance of the specific surgical equipment, and act as the subject expert for the order and restock equipment, inspect and coordinate processing of the equipment through proper hospital departments to ensure that needed surgical systems are available. The position will collaborate with a diverse group of important internal contacts to coordinate, plan and prioritize surgical set logistics.
Is the first point of contact in the configuration, availability and use of all Altus surgical systems. Is able to answer questions from Surgeons and Surgical Team of Altus surgical systems best practices and use.
Continuously acquire and maintain a high level of technical information as it relates to surgery and procedures
Attend surgeries daily in the operating room (OR) to observe, interact and answer questions for OR staff on surgical techniques for Altus Spine products
Develop and maintain customer relationships
Keep customers informed of existing product features/benefits, new products and business policies and procedures
in collaboration with senior coordinator, and manager, ensures account satisfaction through appropriate product distribution, including the maintenance of inventory levels, product planning for weekly surgical schedule and on-call availability for product supply and returns
Maintain compliance with all NYULMC and policies and procedures
Ensure loaner equipment is kept in proper working condition
Perform physical inventory of implant and instrument kits as required by logistics
Coordinates and ensures surgeon and/or surgical team have available sterile instrument and equipment for specific surgical procedure; reviews surgeons preference card in advance, for proper case setup.
In conjunction with manager, acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, Handles confidential and non-routine information and explains policies when necessary.
In collaboration with manager, initiates conversations with potential users to identify orthopedic equipment needs, approval process and gatekeepers.
Assist Manager with obtaining hospital approvals and approval updates for new product offerings, in relation to Altus Spine
Manage inventory record of equipment used during surgical procedures
Participate in, NYULMC training programs including, but not limited to: safety orientation, overview of orthopedics, operating room protocol, Altus Spine specific product knowledge and surgical procedures, field training and standard policies and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to advise all members of surgical team of its maintenance.
Responds well to emergencies, changes in assignments, fluctuation in surgical schedule and demonstrates flexibility in planning.
Helps to ensure a quiet, safe and efficient environment in the Operating Room.
Demonstrates an ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations
Demonstrates knowledge of specific Operating Room and general hospital policies and procedures and legal aspects which affect Orthopedic Device Coordination roles
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a BS Degree required , or equivalent, or 3+ years of equivalent experience.3 years Medical device experience. 3-5 years of Operating Room experience. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Sense of urgency with commitment to meet deadlines. Willing and capable of lifting or pushing packages (surgical instruments and implants). Ability to work in a dynamic business with frequent assignment changes. Strong work ethic with flexibility around periodically heavy work days. Transport inventory on an on-call basis which may require early mornings and/or late evenings. General administrative experience
