What You Will Do:
In this role, The OFC Scale Team has an immediate need for a Lead Chemist whose primary responsibility is providing support for our customers and researchers.
Position Details: This position will be located in Sugar Land, Texas.
Demonstrates ability to apply extensive expertise with significant breadth or depth utilizing complex chemistry engineering, project management, and other relevant theory and concepts to assignments where precedents typically do not exist
Develops solutions to complex problems that require the regular use in ingenuity and creativity
Demonstrates ability to analyze and interpret incomplete information
Adapts to problem solving approach to identify multiple solutions
Regularly demonstrates initiative and creativity in identifying and trying new and different approaches
Development, scale-up and technology transfer of specialty chemical processes from the RD&E bench to global commercial scale manufacturing for the Inorganic Scale product line
Synthesis and formulation of small molecules and polymers
Assist in commercialization process of chemical leads
Troubleshooting and optimization of manufacturing processes
Support of field evaluation of newly developed chemistries
Customer support with chemical qualification and application on specialized, high-pressure equipment.
Write and present technical information to a wide range of audiences including customers and in public forums or events
Represent the company at industry events such as SPE, Petrophase, NACE etc.
Project management within cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams
Adhere to safe work practices and strive for improvement where possible

Bachelor’s Degree or degree in Chemistry or related discipline with 6+ years relevant work experience or Masters with 4+ years’ experience or PHD with 2+ years relevant work experience
Demonstrated competencies in relevant technical subjects utilized in process development, design and scale-up of chemical processes
Experience in qualifying products for squeeze application by formation damage and scale inhibitor core flooding
Proven track record of patented industrial developments

PhD. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
3+ years of industry related experience is a plus
Strong project management skills and/or formal project management training
Proficiency in MS Office applications
Experience with scale prediction software (ScaleSoftPitzer and OLI ScaleChem)
Experience with offshore chemical application operations
Ability to operate independently and as a part of a high-functioning team
An understanding of the priority of safety is critical (chemicals, equipment, co-workers, and self)
Outgoing, creative, a self-starter, and team oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail orientated and excellent time management skills
Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both within and outside the business
Experience with Specialty Chemicals in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred
