Our lab studies human genome variation and its influence on neurons and disease. We are particularly interested in understanding how genome variation influences gene expression and neural circuits. We work at the interface between human/mouse genetics and neurobiology, using molecular biology to understand fundamental questions of brain function.
We are seeking a full time post-bach research assistant who can help us to meet ambitious research goals.
The successful candidate for this position will work with scientists in the lab to analyze the cellular composition and synaptic organization of the mouse brain. This person will help create novel plasmids using molecular cloning, develop systems for studying synaptic networks in culture and perform a variety of informatic analyses related to the single-cell transcriptional profiling using NextGen DNA sequencing. This candidate may also present research findings; help to train others on new techniques base; and perform other related laboratory tasks in support of the broad functioning and success of the laboratory.
This position is grant-funded for one year with the possibility of renewal. Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.
