The University of Kentucky Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Scenic Design. Our undergraduate program is National Associate of Schools of Theatre (NAST) accredited with a robust production season of five mainstage productions including a musical and annual dance concert, as well as an active student produced studio season.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include designing scenery and props for the mainstage season (3 plays, 1 musical, and dance concert). Additional responsibilities include supervising and mentoring student designers and providing scenic painting and oversight for all productions. Teaching duties include Instruction of Scenic Design; Projection Design, Creativity and the Art of Design and Production, and other classes within the candidate's area of expertise as needed. Additional design opportunities are available depending upon candidate's area of expertise.
There is also an expectation of research and/or creative work, committee service, advising, recruiting, and other administrative responsibilities, consistent with the rank of an Assistant Professor.
