This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Custodian position for the Hatfield Marine Science Center at Oregon State University (OSU).
This Custodian position is part of a team working in the evening shift with the primary purpose of ensuring that Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) and specified federal buildings on the HMSC campus are clean, well lit, secure and provide a conducive environment for quality learning and research.
Minimum qualifications are not established for this classification. The appointing authority is responsible for recruitment and selection. Refer to Personnel Rule 105-43-005.
Previous experience cleaning laboratory space, high density public access areas, large classrooms, library space, and other areas associated with higher education and research.
The custodian shift is 40 hours per week. It begins at 5:00 p.m and ends at 1:00 a.m. Must be available to work weekends and some holidays.
Must be highly motivated, have experience working in a team environment and have exceptional customer service skills.
This position must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record while serving in the position; therefore, the incumbent must provide a copy of their driving history for the past 2 years from the issuing state’s Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
This position is designated as a critical, security-sensitive or safety-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal Background Check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position.
In accordance with the Department of Commerce Background Investigation policy, the incumbent must successfully obtain the appropriate security clearance within 90 days of the employment start date.
This position will work evenings and weekends. Evening hours are typically 5pm to 1am.
