The Coordinator of Budget and Finance is responsible for assisting the Dean in matters related to fiscal reporting and accounting. This position reports directly to the Vice Dean.
Working with the Dean to develop the annual College operating budget and Technology Fee requests
Overseeing all research related purchasing and budgeting for grants (externally and internally funded)
Preparing financial analyses and reports to facilitate budget development process and fiscal planning
Identifying cost savings opportunities, suggesting solutions to identified problems, preparing fiscal impact analyses of program and departmental initiatives
Set up and coordinate budgets of all departments within the College of Engineering
Directing and coordinating bundled quotes for faculty start-up purchases
Monitoring the financial status of College capital projects
Monitoring and processing travel requests and reimbursements
Coordinate all Graduate Fellowship funding (stipend/tuition)
Coordinate and process all adjunct/overload contracts with Provost’s Office
Monitoring purchasing for the Dean’s Office
Serve as the primary liaison with the University’s finance and administration offices (budget, accounts payable, purchasing)
Tracking of the College’s endowments, donations, and sponsorships and coordinating with the office of university advancement
Ensuring compliance with University policies relating to finances
Accounting for faculty load through specialized software
Additional duties as assigned by the Dean
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting, finance or related area.
Minimum 2 years of experience in preparing and managing budgets and analysis.
Effective analytical, organizational, conflict resolution and communication skills are essential.
Strong computer skills including WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS or other database software
Excellent oral and written communication skills and expertise in budget development and management. Ability to build cross-functional alliances and train personnel in proper procedures and policies.
Ability to be a team player and build effective working relationships with faculty, professional staff, and administrators.
5 years experience preferred.
Familiarity with university finance and administrative database systems (BANNER) desired.
Experience in higher education preferred.
Salary: AFT Range 22
