Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a per diem FGP Surgical Technologist, based in Huntington, Long Island.
In this role, the successful candidate We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a PD-FGP Surgical Technologist. In this role, the successful candidate assists the surgical team during the procedure. Handles the instruments, supplies and equipment, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and communicates effectively with the team to ensure efficient quality patient care
Reviews the operating room schedule at the beginning of the day to plan and prepare instrument and equipment needs
Assists the circulating nurse in setting up room equipment, opening supplies and instruments Adheres to surgical scrub, gown and glove technique policy and procedures.
Adheres to surgical scrub, gown and glove technique policy and procedures. Sets up sterile field and performs counts with circulating nurse.
Drapes patient according to routine procedure Anticipates, assists and provides supplies and instrumentation for surgeon
Ensures proper handling of the surgical specimens with circulating nurse, as directed by the surgeon Prepares instruments for cleaning and terminal sterilization and transports to dirty utility room
Assists with cleaning of operating room between cases and sets up for next case Functions as instrument technician, as assigned
To qualify you must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Graduate of approved accredited school/Program of Surgical Technology
One year experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a large complex Operating Room, preferred
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
