Under the guidance of the VP of Real Estate, the Real Estate Transaction Manager shall be responsible for managing real estate transactions in support of the Universityâ™s mission and institutional master plan. The Transaction Manager will help represent the Universityâ™s real estate interests throughout the Providence market place (and in other markets where Brown has real estate) and collaborate with Facilities Management, the Provostâ™s office and other departments at Brown to manage real estate transactions and solve real estate requirements, including the purchase, lease, sublease and disposal of real estate. The Transaction Manager will negotiate business terms for the purchase, sale or lease (and lease renewal) of real estate; in conjunction with the Office of General Counsel, negotiate legal contracts; Manage brokers, appraisers, and other consultants; Meet with landlords, sellers, buyers and tenants in the market place; analyze and evaluate potential tenants for vacant space based upon type, quality, compatibility and financial strength; develop financial analysis of transactions as needed and prepare formal transaction analysis for approval by VP of RE and others.
Â·Bachelorâ™s degree required in a related field (business, economics, finance, real estate, construction) preferred
Â·7-10 years of experience managing simple to complex real estate transactions involving all types of real estate at high quality higher educational institutions, Fortune 1000 corporations or established, well-regarded real estate development and/or brokerage companies.
Â·Strong understanding of commercial real estate practices contracts and terminology.
Â·Strong understanding of real estate financial language and ability to develop detailed financial analysis for transactions, including discounted cash flow analysis.
Â·Strong planning, management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Â·Must be able to demonstrate ability to foster and maintain strong relationships across varied constituencies, including landlords, tenants and colleagues within Brown.
Â·Must have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills
Â·Must be able to demonstrate a strong client service orientation; should be extremely customer focused on both internal and external customers and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds;
Â·Must be flexible with a high sense of accountability and responsibility
Â·Must be able to work independently, be proactive and take initiative
Â·Proficiency in Microsoft products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Google Apps.
