The Executive Director, Patient Care Services (PCS), will have the opportunity to serve as a key member of an outstanding leadership team at one of the most comprehensive and advanced academic healthcare systemsin the country. They will support and facilitate an inter-professional team and patient centered approach to the delivery of care. This includes creating a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and research is promoted and achieved.They will serve as the direct link between UCDMC executive leadership and the managers and staff for PCS. The Executive Director, PCS, is responsible for AIM Services, Apheresis, PICC, Center for Professional Practice of Nursing, Emergency Preparedness, GI Lab, Infection Prevention & Control, Radiology Nursing, Pulmonary Laboratory, PCS Quality and Safety, Sepsis Improvement Collaborative, Wound Care Program, and the following patient care units: T4, ENT and Internal Medicine, Davis 8 Hem/One and BMT, T6 Medical Surgical Unit, East 5 Neuro, Davis 12 Surgical Specialties, Tower 8 Transplant and Metabolic, and East 5 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.The Executive Director will have accountability for enhancing a clinical practice environment; encouraging patient centered, unsurpassed clinical quality and patient safety while also providing significant contributions to education and research. They will provide round-the-clock leadership and management in the areas of customer satisfaction, provision of safe and effective care, finance, human resources, communication, patient/staff advocacy, performance improvement and leadership and professional development.REQUIRED- A valid California Registered Nurse license.- Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in nursing or related field required.- Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience as a proven nurse leader in a complex acute care setting. Academic medical center experience preferred.- Comfortable in a fast paced, complex, matrixed academic environment.- Strong conceptual nursing base with expertise in professional practice models, systems thinking, and quality improvement processes.- Demonstrated record of effective nurse recruitment and retention strategies including ability to develop and retain new graduate nurses. Personal commitment to the development and advancement of clinical leaders throughout the organization.- Demonstrated passion for the delivery of the highest level of service to patients and their families.- Successful track record employing quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives that achieve superior clinical quality, favorable financial outcomes, and high patient and nurse satisfaction and engagement.- Demonstrates strong financial acumen and innovative approaches to engage staff in reducing waste and enhancing value for patients.- Demonstrated commitment to the ANCC Magnet Recognition program.- Embraces cultural diversity and inclusion as demonstrated by support for innovative recruitment and retention strategies focused on building a diverse clinical workforce.- Demonstrates a strong executive presence and is political savvy, including communication skills that enable them to appreciate other's perspectives and offer compelling insights and recommendations.- Demonstration of Relational and Therapeutic PracticesPREFERRED- Certification in field of practice preferred (if appropriate).- Proven ability of building internal and external relationships, with a demonstrated track record of working successfully with academic partners, physicians and physician leaders, and diverse management teams.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
