The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) advanced practice-nursing role is responsible for improvement and maintenance of scientifically based clinical nursing care in an area of specialized nursing practice or for specific population. In collaboration with the health care team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides expert family centered clinical care and clinical consultation within her/his area of expertise to improve outcomes and to promote integrated health care that is safe, equitable, timely, effective, and efficient. The CNS achieves this by providing direct and indirect care to patients and their families, promoting staff development, disseminating and conducting research and contributing to and leading clinical policy and procedure development and revision. This Clinical Nurse Specialist will support the care of patients with medical conditions, patients admitted for procedures outside of the surgical suite and infusion therapy.
BLS, with the American Heart Association
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Delaware.
3 to 5 years clinical experience in Med/Surg, IV or procedural areas.
MSN with Board Certification as Clinical Nurse Specialist or currently enrolled in a MSN program, Clinical Nurse Specialist track, able to achieve Advanced Practice Nurse license and certification in the State of Delaware within 24 months of accepting position.
