Nemours is seeking a Integrated Facility Design Manager to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.
This position will be embedded in the Nemours Corporate Facilities Department Planning Team. This person will work with the Corporate Facilities Department to establish the IFD structure and process and ensure the process is standardized across the Nemours system. This position will also involve leading Continuous Improvement work related to designing and re-designing facilities and workspace within the hospital settings as well as the satellite locations.
This includes leading or co-leading the development of workflows within new spaces. This work includes leading larger scale continuous improvement work such as value stream mapping (VSM), integrated facility design (IFD), strategy/goal deployment, and/or Production Preparation Process (3P). Collaborates with architectural design & construction teams as well as hospital staff to enhance facility planning and design development to improve clinical and support services operations.
Leverages the expertise of all stakeholders â“ patients and families, hospital leaders, physicians, associates, architects, contractors and facilities and C.I. colleagues, to achieve transformational improvements in facility design that support Nemours True North goals.
Establishes and implements an Integrated Facility Design approach that transcends the 5 phases of project governance, conceptual design, functional design, detailed design and standard work development.
Facilitate basic process improvement events within critical model lines that intersect with facility design work. Capable of using and leading others in the use of 5S, standard work, kaizen, value stream maping and understanding the principles of flow/pull.
Manages IFD projects to ensure compliance with project goals and strategies to ensure the development of a physical environment that helps rather than hinders the clients ongoing Lean Process Continuous Improvement Activities.
Will develop and recommend Planning and Corporate Facilities Goal setting and gap closing process (hoshin linkage).
Facilitates multidisciplinary discussions in negotiating the optimal patient experience. Designs and documents process work flows developed in project events and activities.
Participates in tactical and strategic planning for continuous improvement work done in concert with Nemours leadership. Develops and maintains, and revises work plans as appropriate.
Coordinates closely with Continuous Improvement department and external consultants to ensure that Lean work flows within the newly designed spaces are being developed with consistency and used in the operational workflow after occupancy.
Assist leadership in identifying appropriate opportunities and metrics for successful continuous improvement implementation.
Coach at all levels of the organization on the habits and disciplines of a successful continuous improvement culture. Teach and train teams and individuals on the application of problem specific tools to support improvement activity.
This individual will lead or co-lead the development of continuous improvement workflows within the identified new projects for all Nemours Enterprise facility locations.
Contributes to the development of reliable methods and standard work.
Assures adherence to Continuous Improvement standards and methodologies across the enterprise.
Demonstrate the ability to challenge the status-quo and encourage break-through thinking to ensure Continuous Improvement principles are implemented.
Researches and identifies relative benchmarks to be used in the establishment of daily management measures to ensure compliance with standard work.
A Bachelor's degree is required as well as10 - 15 years of direct experience in lean facilitation and the various tools (e.g. 5S, RPI, Value Stream. IFD, 3P).
Extensive experience with lean management systems, tools, and methodologies.
Must have experience designing new lines, new facilities and new products using 2P and 3P tools.
Specific experience applying these concepts with healthcare facility design is preferred.
Candidate has also coached/mentored other individuals to conduct workshops independently.
Travel Requirement: 25% to manage positions in Florida.
Black Belt or equivalent LEAN certification
