Join us and help people live healthier lives while doing your life's best work.(sm) Positions in this function are responsible for design, development and deployment of tools, process and consulting around all enterprise-wide and/or customer compensation programs that support UnitedHealth Group and client group objectives of attracting, retaining and motivating key talent with programs that are competitive and responsive to external influences and internal objectives.Drive profitable revenue growth by deploying industry leading commission, bonus and incentive compensation strategies for the Medicare & Retirement and Community & State Sales and Client Executive roles including Strategic and tactical design of compensation plans and programs. Coordination with sales leadership, finance, Human Capital and UHG Compensation to establish and drive consistency/compliance as well as best practices throughout the enterprise. Primary Responsibilities:Development, refinement and interpretation of a Medicare & Retirement and Community & State Sales Compensation strategy and philosophy Provide recommendations on incentive mix based on total compensation data and other vital trend data (i.e. Vital Signs trends, Sales effectiveness survey trends, etc.) Develop a comprehensive understanding of business issues and priorities; effectively analyze and diagnose problems; provide clear advice and recommendations to help client make sound business decisions; establish credibility and trust by delivering on commitmentsUtilize annual market review process to ensure compensation strategies remain industry competitive to ensure attraction and retention of key talent Design of sales compensation programsDevelopment of sales incentive compensation policies and procedures and drive consistency of same Facilitate stakeholder involvement in plan design to create plans that reflect business and market goals, yet are flexible enough to meet the unique needs of each business Ability to create and present requested changes with confidence to senior management for final approvalAfter approval, work with Sales Compensation Administration team to convey changes and ensure understandingDevelops pioneering approaches to emerging industry trends
Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience in Sales Compensation design or Sales Compensation administrationDemonstrated ability to partner with multiple constituents, manage in a matrix relationship environment, strengthen and deliver on our Sales Compensation agenda, and drive positive change in a high performance settingDeep understanding of and practical experience in applied sales compensation principles, methods and tools including technical expertise in a multiple of the following: market analysis, compensation program design, development, and implementation, variable pay, acquisitions, and alternative reward design techniques Strong business and financial acumen Provide a full spectrum of consulting and analytical compensation services by translating segment strategic direction into meaningful sales compensation plansApply best practice sales compensation principles to provide compensation solutions designed to support business, team and leadership strategiesDemonstrated ability to measure and evaluate effectiveness of sales compensation initiatives Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, influencing and partnering with business leaders across the organization Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree Familiarity with Access, Excel and SQL Experience working in Sales Compensation design in a large corporate environment with 1,000+ sales rep populationRequired to demonstrate: Real life examples of solving a sales rep motivation issue related to sales incentive: We wish to review work samples from your previous service in designing and implementing sales incentive programs in advance of our first telephone interview. Please be prepared to include actual samples of at least two projects including your personal contribution from inception and design through implementation and business results.
