The EOME program seeks to investigate and prevent health risks associated with environmental and occupational hazards by conducting original research and outstanding professional education. The ultimate goal of our research is to provide scientific basis for prudent and responsible decisions in environmental, occupational, and health standards, and to inform and inspire clinical and public health practice. The Environmental & Occupational Medicine & Epidemiology (EOME) Program in the Department of Environmental Health has an opening for a Research Assistant II Non –Lab (RA) to perform and coordinate a wide range of research procedures and duties related to studies focused on environmental exposures and diet in relation to reproductive health and children's health.
The RA will work under the direction of the PI and Research Nurse Manager & collaborate with other HSPH-based study research staff, students, and post-docs.
Responsibilities include: - Study participant recruitment (parents and their children): mail invitation letters and make follow-up phone calls, track responses, and schedule study visits - Conduct study visits for parents and their children - includes completing neurodevelopmental surveys after undergoing training to perform these assessments - Meet regularly with the study investigators, submit reports of project status, and suggest modifications or improvements to efficiency of study visits - Data collection, entry/management and human subject's research document tracking - Responsible for establishing & maintaining the quality and integrity of the data - Collate, organize, draft, & edit material for the preparation of research papers, manuscripts, articles, or other documents for publications and/or presentation related to project activities - Process & help organize study results using a variety of word processing and spreadsheets - Prepare participant retention summaries - Seek out new contact information for study participants with invalid phone numbers and addresses, using Accurint, EPIC, and public records - Maintain relationship with study subjects and establish rapport with study subjects to facilitate interaction during interviews and enhance participant retention - Conduct study clinic visits, collecting the highest quality research data to include interviews, surveys, anthropometric measures, child and adult neurobehavioral assessments - Escort study participants to various study activities (eg, DXA, phlebotomy). - Assist coworkers with miscellaneous office duties such as filing, data entry, quality checking, etc. - Assist in the design of new study protocols & be responsible for their implementation - Maintain staff calendar including some weekends and evening appointments and school vacations - Maintain log of all changes to the research protocol; assist with regulatory processes and communication with the IRB, including protocol amendments, continuing reviews, protocol deviations - Assist in preparation of progress reports to the study sponsor - Assist in communication and tasks related to external laboratories (eg, CDC) and regulatory agencies (eg, NIH). - Responsible for a small portion of laboratory-based work: processing biosamples - including defrosting, aliquoting, and shipping of samples - Meet and interview study participants at the MGH site, using an individualized approach to maximize accurate data collection & retain participants in study. Collect, process, store and track biological samples including blood, urine, semen and follicular fluid according to study procedures; document all participant visits - Other duties as required

- 1+ years related work experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered
