The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking applicants for the position of Fiscal Technician. Reporting to the Business Manager, the Fiscal Technician provides day-to-day financial, administrative, and program support. This position is responsible for purchasing and receiving, accounts payable processing, travel authorizations and reimbursements, records management, cash handling, and wage payroll reconciliation. The Fiscal Technician also serves as the department receptionist by answering telephones and greeting visitors.
- Fiscal and/or administrative support experience in an academic or professional office setting. - Experience with software applications such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point, calendaring software, database systems, and web browsers. - Ability to organize and prioritize work while serving visitors and callers with a high degree of judgment and courtesy. - Ability to work independently and adhere to college and university policies and procedures. - Excellent communication skills and ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment. - Must be detail oriented and work with a high level of accuracy.
- Associate's degree or equivalent training and/or experience. - Knowledge of university and college policies and procedures related to the operations of an academic office. - Experience using large enterprise-wide databases in areas of finance and purchasing, such as HokieMart, Banner, Travel and Expenses Management system, and MicroStrategy. - Experience working with travel arrangements, reimbursements and budget management.
