The Advancement Services Department is responsible for all data going into and pulled out of the alumni and donor database (Ellucian Advance) for UMSL. This position works with the Director of Advancement Services to determine and establish priorities and procedures for prospect management. They will coordinate reporting on fundraising staff portfolio composition and work to strengthen the prospect discovery pipeline. This position also is responsible for maintaining, coordinating and creating departmental process and procedure documentation.
Prospect Management : This staff member will work with Director of Advancement Services to:
Report on goals and key performance indicators for portfolio review and management.
Attend and support major gift prospect strategy meetings and tracking outcomes.
Track and report development staff and department progress toward goals. This will include assisting the Advancement team to ensure all data needed for tracking is entered in the Advance system in a timely manner.
Prospect Analysis : This staff member will work with the Director of Advancement Service and other team members to:
Manage prospect discovery pipelines and establish processes for pipeline movement, progress, and measurement.
Review and analyze discovery prospect data against needs.
Analyze data and reporting to address gaps and needs and collaborate to create or update reports.
Technical Writing : This staff member is responsible for facilitating and/or writing descriptions of department operations, processes, and protocols, including:
All types of data processing and updating performed by our department.
General request procedures and PCI Compliance documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Post-secondary degree or equivalent related work experience.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
Attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effectively perform under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Must be able to use sound judgement and discretion, and maintain complete confidentiality when appropriate.
Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
Ability to work independently while also working as a member of the University Advancement team.
Nonprofit work experience, with preference for prospect research/management and/or fundraising experience.
Database skills, preferably with a fundraising database and/or with data analysis and reporting focus.
Technical writing for client end-users.
Experience with creating and presenting research.
