IT Support Assistant (Contractual Position) - (1800006T)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Institute of Human Virology (IHV), is currently seeking a Part-Time Contractual IT Support Assistant . Under direct supervision, assists clients in the use of computer hardware, software, and network services.
***This is a Part-Time, Non-Benefited Contractual Position***
Independently installs or relocates computer equipment, such as PCs, printers, and other associated hardware at user locations in accordance with departmental procedures, and technical manuals.
Provides first level problem analysis. Masters base knowledge of assigned applications, hardware and network to support clinical and business environments. Resolves or escalates service requests when necessary. Independently performs technical downloads and PC configurations.
Uses Helpdesk Software to log all activities and update requests accurately and well detailed. Collects data from customers to aid completion of request.
Work on Special Projects as assigned
Use of Imaging software to migrate data from Windows 7, transfer of user data to new computers
Troubleshoot virus and malware issues on client computers.
Assist with setting up projectors for presentations. Assist with setting up audio/visual equipment for annual meetings at remote locations.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: One (1) year with the types of hardware and/or software to be supported.
Working knowledge of two applicable software products. Skill in operating supported computers and peripherals. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work effectively with clients; to solve technical problems.
Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).
