Full Time 40 hours Grade 044 Learning & Development Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities General Purpose: The Regional Education Coordinator will serve as the primary resource for affiliate and partnering organizations with a focus on inter-professional engagement, consultation, standardization, resource sharing and cost saving initiatives. The purpose of this role is to ensure the clinical staff across UR Medicine affiliates has access to educational content that promotes quality patient care, quality patient outcomes and professional development. The Regional Nurse Educator is responsible for collaborating with UR Medicine affiliate hospitals to provide consultative services including the assessment of need, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs, aligning resource opportunities, collaborative approaches and the identification of resources. Intended audiences include staff, students, professional and lay communities. As an expert consultant on educational issues and their impact on care delivery, this role integrates educational/clinical research and evidence based practice into programming and promotes nursing knowledge through best practice sharing, presentations and publications. Specific Responsibilities: The coordinator will facilitate educational outreach, respond to educational requests and facilitate other consultative requests as appropriate. Additionally, the coordinator will foster communication and information sharing regarding educational opportunities available at UR Medicine such as workshops, internships and other courses, including access to online learning content through MyPath. Works collaborative with both internal and affiliate key stakeholders to fosters Affiliate Alignment with I) Learning Management System for Employee Education; 2) Performance Management 3) other Clinical initiatives to gain efficiencies, establish standards of care. Provide UR Medicine Affiliate Hospitals with the opportunity to utilize Cornerstone on Demand platform as centralized Learning Management System, sharing available educational content as appropriate to meet identified educational needs. Works closely with the Talent Management System (TMS) Project Director, Administrator(s), and Affiliate Foster integration and alignment for clinical educational needs, such as American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEARS and RQI programs. Provide centralized facilitation and support for the purchasing of online content to reduce costs. Works directly with the Sr. Director to establish policy, process and contracts with Office of Council to support the training of UR Medicine affiliate clinical staff to facilitate regionalization and consistency of care. Develops, implements and continuously improves educational programs, which influence the direction and outcome of group activities at the unit, service and community level. Integrates principles of the Strong Commitment in seeking innovative ways to stimulate creative thinking and building of expertise and confidence through progressive learning actives. Demonstrates customer responsiveness in educational programming and to influence quality patient care/nursing practice/affiliate practice. Creates opportunities for dissemination of knowledge through presentation and publication within UR Medicine, at the local/regional and national level. Demonstrates sophisticated communication skills in interactions with others. Integrates current educational/clinical/evidence based practice and research findings in presentation. Promotes nursing and quality care when interacting with affiliates, other professionals, patients/families and the public. Develops and implements strategies to strengthen competency and creativity in professional role. Maintains/updates personal knowledge base through continuing education offerings, scholarly journals and pursuit of advanced degrees. Seeks or maintains role specific certifications. Assesses the quality and improves effectiveness of nursing care delivery system in assigned specialty area, which includes practice, policies and procedures. Services as an educational consultant for activities, which foster improved patient care and nursing practice. Based on identification and strategic planning, develops educational programs/resources for staff, community and professionals. Serves as a formal educator for students, staff, leaders, managers and others. Actively participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of competency-based practice and professional development programs in collaboration with nursing leadership and others. Demonstrates involvement in quality improvement activities at the service/practice/hospital-wide level through the use of the problem-solving process, strategic planning and activities. Requirements Registered Nurse with current New York State license; Masters in Nursing required with 3-5 years' experience in Nursing Education. Knowledge of Cornerstone OnDemand and University structures, policies and practices preferred.
