The Project and Policy Analyst 2 is a fulltime, career position with an end date of March 31, 2019 for funding purposes only. The Project and Policy Analyst 2 serves as a Research Program Analyst for the NIEHS Environmental Health Sciences Core Center (EHSCC). Additionally, the Project and Policy Analyst 2 assists with program evaluation and planning and reports to the Scientific Program Administrator.REQUIRED--Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with appropriate political acumen and coordinate meetings involving various Deans' Offices and other UCD administrative units, State agency Directors, and legislators, external scientific advisors with a variety of constituencies with differing priorities and perspectives. Excellent knowledge and use of grammar, punctuation and syntax for editing and proofing to produce error-free work. --Experience to independently research, collect, compile and analyze data from a variety of sources, to identify and reconcile anomalies; to work with multiple data sources to reconcile records and processes across various database systems; and to recognize actual from potential data problems and consequences and take appropriate actions. --Experience analyzing complex information and situations to independently identify problems and relevant factors, formulate logical conclusions, and recommend and implement alternative solutions.--Experience applying project management techniques to the analysis, scheduling and completion of projects, including cost estimation, timeline planning and adjustments, resource allocation, and project monitoring. --Demonstrated experience and organizational skills to manage projects in a fast paced environment with competing deadlines and conflicting workload priorities with minimal supervision. --Ability to follow instructions and procedures and to take the initiative to clarify as needed. --Ability to complete assignments accurately following detailed, complex written guidelines. --Ability to maintain good working relationships with faculty, healthcare professionals, staff, and stakeholders. --Ability to rapidly adapt to the working styles of multiple individuals. --Ability to coordinate with individuals from external institutions and organizations. --Knowledge of and/or experience in software applications relevant to program management, including spreadsheets (e.g. Excel), and data collection tools such as Qualtrix, database management (e.g., Access). --Computer skills using Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and e-mail.--Experience with citation management systems such as EndNote.--Ability to understand and follow relevant NIH and University policy and procedures as they relate to grant management. --Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate delays, identify problems and communicate ramifications to superiors. --Exercise independent judgment and initiative in bringing issues to the Program Administrator or Directors for decision or discussion.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
