Working closely with senior management and key volunteers, responsible to lead all development efforts of the agency. This position is vital to assist Berks Encore to achieve aggressive objectives to build diversified revenue streams from all sources as a part of a major organizational initiative.
Thoroughly understand Berks Encore, its mission and policies, culture, values, history, key stakeholders, programs, finances, and how its multiple constituencies and sources of funding can be integrated to generate revenue;
Ensure annual fundraising goals are met;
Work to expand Berks Encore donor base in major donor and individual giving;
Cultivate, solicit and steward gifts from private funding sources;
Manage staff responsible for pursuing mid-scale gifts and responsible for individual giving;
Identify cultivate, and solicit personally or prepare CEO or board members to solicit major gifts for the Annual Fund and manage annual fund solicitations;
Provide direction and oversight for contribution tracking with the help from the department assistant;
Clearly communicate with the senior management team ensuring that expectations are articulated accurately and clearly to funding partners and that proposed initiatives reflect the capacities and priorities of Berks Encore;
Develop a model for reporting to donors the project statuses, benefits, and outcomes as a result of investments. Oversee donor stewardship systems and activities;
Attract, develop and retain high-performance committee members, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control and performance;
Analyze existing development functions and work with the team and the President to define annual and multi-year strategic fundraising plan that will support Berks Encore;
Develop and implement policy for how Berks Encore will interface with individual donors that will result in seamless and elegant communications from initial meetings to day-to-day interactions during program implementation;
Manage Development budget;
Ensure Berks Encore’s compliance with state and federal governing and tax laws related to nonprofit fundraising; and,
Stay abreast of philanthropic, economic, and social and community trends related to aging and Berks Encore, ensure that staff and board are informed of changes in trends and initiatives that might impact the organization.
Organize and implement member/participant relations.
Administer donor database which includes member/participant and prospect information, mailing list applications, access to financial reports, etc.
Extensive experience and increasing responsibility in fundraising, with demonstrated success in prospecting, cultivating, asking and closing, corporate, workplace, individual, and major gifts;
An appreciation of the skills and support systems needed to work productively with corporate and individual donors;
Experienced in soliciting major gifts;
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling and comprehensive to the potential donor;
The ability to work productively with colleagues and build relationships easily with a wide range of internal and external constituents, including board members, major individual donors and prospects, community leaders;
The ability to organize and prioritize fundraising activities effectively and to guide staff members in managing their particular responsibilities.
