The Henry Ford, located in Dearborn, Michigan, has an exciting opportunity for the position, "Manager, Ford Corporate Archives"!
Responsible for the leadership and management of the Ford Motor Company’s Corporate Archives. Works closely with Ford Motor Company’s Heritage Brand Manager and the archivists of the Ford Historical Resources Collaborative to ensure the growth, accessibility, and stewardship of Ford Motor Company’s Corporate Archives collections as outlined in the master agreements. In addition, the Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as Ford Motor Company’s Heritage Brand Manager. Reports to the Senior Manager of Archives and Library.
Provides strong creative leadership for Ford Corporate Archival operations well as demonstrating and developing innovative and entrepreneurial ways to work.
Operates as the day-to-day manager of archival collaboration with The Henry Ford and Ford Motor Company, including the obligations as outlined in the Master Agreements of the Ford Historical Resources Collaborative and Ford Motor Company Corporate Archive Collaboration.
Works closely with staff to monitor progress toward the Ford Collaboratives goals.
Assigns tasks and roles within the Ford Corporate Archives team, monitors budget, responsible for agreed-upon metrics set forth by the Ford Historical Resources Management Team (Ford Heritage Brand Manager, THF’s Senior Manager of Archives and Library and others).
Responsible for coaching and evaluating team members as well as team compliance with all training and policy requirements.
Provides intellectual direction as well as being proficient in all aspects of archival processes, and capable of handling or leading any archival effort.
Aware of key company communications themes, identifies material that could help tell Ford stories in new and engaging ways.
Responsible for continuous improvement of customer-friendly service programs and efficiency and response time.
Proficient in creating communications that are effective and ongoing for both internal and external stakeholders.
Advises Ford Heritage Brand Manager and proposes suggested solutions of brand content, including budget estimation, skills assessment, and workload prioritization.
Works with ABHM and THF management on staffing skills and assignments to meet changing needs.
Connected with the Archival profession, monitors best practices, current professional thinking.
Able to lead tours of archives for senior management or others.
Monitor technical concerns such as database functionality and server storage.
Responsible for development of creative work which includes, but is not limited to, publications in any medium, product and program development and design, and all related collateral materials.
Other areas of responsibility include photo licensing and reproduction, and digital programs.
Performs other activities as necessary.

Minimum Requirements Requires advanced degree in information management, archives administration, or related field; requires five years’ previous experience with archival and library collections, including digital collections; requires three years’ previous administrative and supervisory experience in a cultural or corporate archive environment.
Special Skills Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to lead and manage corporate archival collections; understanding of the professional, ethical, and legal issues of collections, including acquisitions and deaccessions, collection management archives administration, intellectual property, and rights and reproduction; strong command of archival theory and best practices, especially as they relate to issues posed by electronic records; demonstrated familiarity with descriptive, technical, preservation, and structural metadata standards, emerging standards and professional issues relevant to the archival control of digital collection materials.
