St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Library Assistant who will assist patrons, including faculty, staff and students, at the circulation desk and provide information.
Helps patrons at the circulation desk, including but not limited to checking materials in and out, renewals, and collecting fines.
Provides general information about the library and directions for students, faculty and staff using the library.
Processes Mobius and Archway requests for materials.
Maintains the organization of library resources to allow easy access.
Processes materials in the Reserve collection and processes overdue notices, fines and bills.
Trains and directs student workers.
Assists and advises the Public Services Manager, Technical Processing Manager, reference librarians and Lead Library Assistant on matters relating to technical processing, circulation, and reference services.
Assists Technical Services in processing new books.
Adheres to the College's confidentiality rules. Does not disclose this information to anyone, unless expressly authorized by the Dean.
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and one year of office experience; or high school diploma or equivalent and three years' related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Moderate word processing skills. Basic spreadsheet and database software skills desired. One-year experience working with confidential material. One-year relevant full time experience. Expertise in library automated system, database searching, Internet, bibliographic utilities, and word processing is preferred.
